Independence Day Celebration

July 3, 2017 at Lake Park High School West Campus

The tradition of fireworks is returning to Roselle again this summer on Monday, July 3 at Lake Park High School West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. This free family event includes a "Party in the Park" presented in partnership by the Village of Roselle and Mission Church. The fireworks display, jointly sponsored by the Exploding Turkey Trot 5K and the Village of Roselle, will begin at 9:30 p.m.

In addition to a community celebration, “Party in the Park” is being utilized to promote awareness of Mission Church’s community outreach ministry  Project Just Start. The goal of Project Just Start is to provide backpacks fully loaded with school supplies to children from local families facing economic challenges in the area that Mission Church has designated “The 10.” The 10 includes the communities of Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, and Wood Dale.

Fireworks Donation

Turkey Trot 5K

At the January 9, 2017, Village Board meeting, Exploding Turkey Trot 5K Race Director Patrick Devitt made a donation of $8,000 to the Village toward the 2017 fireworks display. The donation came from the proceeds of the 3rd Annual Exploding Turkey Trot race, which was held on Thanksgiving morning.

"Not only is the Turkey Trot a wonderful community event, but the proceeds help fund our July fireworks celebration," said Mayor Gayle Smolinski. "Patrick saw a need and found a way to help us fill it. It is a great job by all involved!"
