Mayor Maglio Declares Local State of Emergency

From Mayor Maglio:

The Village Trustees and I value the safety and well-being of Roselle and its employees as our top priority. To establish legal authority for prompt resource mobilization, I have authorized a Declaration of Local State of Emergency in Roselle.

The declaration is mainly procedural and is valid until the next Village Board Meeting, scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2020. This declaration helps us to make timely decisions amid the coronavirus epidemic in the following ways:

  1. Purchasing – the Village may enter into contracts for the emergency purchase of goods and services.
  2. Staffing – authorizes the Village Administrator, Jeff O’Dell, the authority to implement emergency staffing protocols for public health and safety.
  3. Authority to closely cooperate with agencies – allows the Village of Roselle to coordinate resources more effectively with the federal, state, and county levels of government.

The Village is taking an overabundance of caution and following the lead of state and federal leaders by making this declaration. Please know that at this time, no cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Roselle.

Even though our municipal buildings are closed to the public, our employees are continuing to work on-site and remotely to ensure that essential services like public safety, fire protection, emergency medical response, and water and wastewater service continue to be offered in Roselle. I encourage you to conduct business with the Village online, by email and by phone at (630) 980-2000 as much as possible. Additionally, the drop box in the circle drive in front of Village Hall can be used for document and payment delivery.

Please see the Coronavirus Information page on the Village’s website for updates.
