Problem Oriented Policing (POP)

Overview
Problem Oriented Policing (POP) designed to address specific neighborhood problems that affect the quality of life as well as other criminal activity that may require a concentrated effort and innovative problem solving. The POP Unit is assigned to concerns such as:
  • Neighborhood traffic complaints
  • Vandalism in parks
  • Residential or commercial burglaries
  • Juvenile-related problems
Officers help to assist either Patrol or Investigations in addressing issues that are not readily solved by traditional policing methods.

Officers are encouraged to meet with community members to seek input into solutions as well as to identify root causes in order to solve problems rather than just treat the symptoms.
