Face coverings are again required in indoor public spaces throughout Illinois as of August 30. Governor Pritzker cited substantial transmission of the COVID-19 delta variant and a sharp increase in COVID patients requiring hospitalization since earlier this summer as reasons for reinstating the mask mandate.
The Village had already reinstated face covering requirements for employees and visitors inside all Village-owned buildings effective August 5, in accordance with CDC guidelines. With the governor's mandate, masks will continue to be required at Village Hall, the Roselle Police Station, the Roselle Fire Station, and at Roselle Public Works.
The governor also said today that COVID-19 vaccinations for certain state workers, school and higher education employees, college students, and health care workers will be required in Illinois.
According to state data, 98 percent of positive cases, 96 percent of hospitalizations and 95 percent of deaths in Illinois between January and July this year were among unvaccinated people. To find out more about COVID-19 vaccines, visit the DuPage County website, the Cook County website, or the website of your local pharmacy.
