[ARCHIVED] Practice Proper Disposal of Yard Waste

As residents begin to clean up their yards this spring, they will probably come across items such as sticks, newspaper pages, and old leaves. Tempting as it may be, burning them to dispose of them is not permitted in Roselle. All of these items should be put in proper garbage cans or yard waste bags through the yard waste program with Flood Brothers.

While recreational fires are allowed, they cannot be made of materials that should be recycled or thrown out, such as leaves, garbage, construction debris, or other similar items. In addition to not being allowed, burning yard waste is not safe. The wind can spread embers to other parts of the property and cause larger ground fires, and in some cases, it can even catch homes on fire.
