Roselle Public Works Offers Yard Flooding Assistance Program

Roselle Public Works has a cost-sharing Yard Flooding Assistance Program designed to assist property owners to address problems related to yard flooding. The Village may share the cost of up to 50 percent of eligible improvements, up to $3,000 per project.

Yard drainage problems arise for many reasons, including ground settling around pitched slopes originally designed to facilitate drainage, and the development of areas that can no longer absorb water due to increases in impervious areas and the resultant runoff from private property. Property improvements such as building additions, patios, pool decks, sidewalks and accessory buildings can contribute to yard flooding.

Eligible improvements include options to re-grade the yard to reestablish proper pitch, installation of a private gravity storm sewer, installation of a pumped storm sewer, or installation of a rain garden. Participation in this program is based on a first come first serve basis and is subject to available funding. For more information about this program, visit the Yard Flooding Assistance Program page.
