[ARCHIVED] National Fire Prevention Week Is October 9-15

Fire Prevention Week 2022

The Roselle Fire Department joins the National Fire Protection Association in celebrating Fire Prevention Week October 9-15. The national theme for this year, “Fire won’t wait. Plan yourescape.” works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.

In a typical home fire, people may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Escape planning and practice can help everyone make the most of the time they have, giving everyone enough time to get out.

Safety tips from the National Fire Protection Association include making a home escape plan, knowing at least two ways out of a room if possible, setting an outside meeting place at a safe distance from the home, practicing home fire drills at night and during the day, practicing using different ways out, and closing doors behind as you leave.
